When my first children’s book was published a year ago, I felt lost and overwhelmed throughout the entire writing and marketing process. After months and months of frustrating research, I painstakingly put all the pieces together, but still felt like something was missing.
Most of the information out there was relevant only to writing and marketing books for adults – there seemed to be nothing specifically for children’s authors. I so wished, I could have had some guidance and support back then.
A couple of books later, I am so gratefully for the people that have supported me along the way. It’s my hope that with my Books and this site, I’ll will be able to support and guide children and families through experiences in their lives.
I was born in Wales in the United Kingdom and blessed with my cultural heritage being British and Australian Indigenous. My Mother still is an adamant reader and an advocate of literature. I spent an inordinate amount of my youth, nosing through books at every opportunity. My parents, brother and sisters travelled as much as we could, experiencing cultures in our constant travels around the globe. It was a good childhood.
Never in a million years, though, would I have thought about becoming a children’s book author. This seed was planted in my childhood, but never flourished until I was turning 50. My children grew up with Mum's imaginative stories, that grew into magically mesmerizing, stories, and oh so hard to find on any bookshelf.
I couldn’t let go of what Beverly Clearly once said and has since then become one of my favourite sayings, “If you don’t see the book you want on the shelf, write it.”
So that’s exactly what I did.
Understanding who you are, and your past embraces YOU. Learning my Indigenous heritage and opening my heart to God, changed my perspective in life. If I can change my life you can to.
Why should you listen to me?
I have worked with children and youth for over thirty years, encouraging and inspiring them, through crisis in their life. Knowing you are loved through pain and suffering certainly helps moving forward.
I had so many stories in my head that I wanted to share with children, to encourage and support them through difficult times in their lives.
I have not just children stories rattling around in my mind, but self- care and Christian inspiring message to pour out into books.
I stepped out in faith, and started writing and here we are!
I’m fortunate enough to be able to make a living doing what I love most. I truly adore what I do, and with my offerings I’m trying to give back to the wonderful community, so children can benefit from its wealth of creativity – because the greatest gift we can give our children is love and a passion for reading.
My calling has always been to encourage and support others through difficult times in their lives. To understand pain and suffering, you have to have had the experience yourself, to firmly understand the despair.
I have gained the qualifications to support people in their distress, I pray that my books will support you in your lives and the lives of your families and children.
Over the years, I have worked with many amazing agencies and people, which has enabled me to compile and create remarkable content that will really help families.
Always remember: There is always HOPE, you just have to find it. The pain will not go away but you will learn strategies around it. You just need to start.
